Video Marketing Trends:  Social Media is “All-In” on video

Here’s why you should pay attention when Mark Zuckerberg of Facebook talks about going “all in” on video.  First off, when Zuckerberg said this, it’s important to note that he was talking about live video streaming.  Whether or not your business is ready to also go “all in” on live-streaming or just start a video campaign, having video content is now a necessity.

Facebook’s current focus on live-streaming is interesting.  It’s the video niche they’ve decided to pursue.  Facebook has found that its users really like the candid, on-the-spot nature of live-video streaming.

When Zuckerberg talks about Facebook becoming all video in the next five years what businesses should realize is that this social media platform with enormous reach is saying that their users really value video.  And you should too.

Your customers are social media users.  You don’t need to compete with Facebook or Twitter, but you should use video, or what they’ve dubbed as the “Super-Important, Next-Big-Thing”, for your business marketing needs.

According to Buzzfeed, Facebook is in competition with Twitter in grasping hold of the newest genre of video:  live-streaming video.  And not just an individual’s video, but broadcast streaming services, too!  This should interest you as a business decision.  They’ve got a new service and they are pushing it for all it’s worth, like any good business should.

But unless you are a social media service, you should focus on what you need video to do for your business, rather than diving head first into live-streaming.

Here’s some recent stats from Wyzowl that we think are interesting:

91% of businesses say they plan to increase or maintain their spending on video.

Interesting, right?  But why are companies spending money on video content?

Maybe because 98% of consumers surveyed said they’ve watched an explainer video to learn more about a product or service.

Imagine the ability to capture the attention of 98% of your potential customer base.

77% of consumers surveyed said they’ve been convinced to buy a product or service by watching a video.

These numbers are impressive.  And there are plenty of social media companies who have noticed the power of video to engage their users.  Twitter, Facebook, and YouTube are obvious video proponents.  With Facebook and Twitter, it gives their users another type of content to share.

Whether or not live-streaming is appropriate for your business is something for your marketing team to consider.  If you have an active, engaged social media audience, then live-streaming your next product rollout or trade show announcement would be an effective (and inexpensive) way to reach that audience. Clearly, your company should be using video.

We think with a good plan and strategy from a trusted video marketing partner, you can make your video needs a reality when your company is ready to go “all in” with video.
